Government spokesman: Comprehensive curfew will likely be imposed during Eid Al-Fitr holiday

The Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said on Sunday, May 10, that life will return to normal within a month or two if citizens commit to the COVID-19 preventive measures, suggesting that a comprehensive curfew will likely be imposed during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday as a precaution.

During an interview with Alhurra, the United States-based public Arabic-language satellite TV channel, Adaileh added: "the Mafraq truck driver case warned us that we have to take strict measures on the borders and it will not be repeated."

"We are able to achieve success again," Adaileh stressed, noting that the home quarantine pledge signed by some did not prove useful.

"We cannot say that the situation is under control and a comprehensive curfew must be imposed every weekend," the Minister stated.

He mentioned that the Jordanian economy was losing JD100 million per day following the corona pandemic, confirming that some economic sectors may need years to compensate for the losses, such as the tourism sector.
