In implementation of the royal directives issued by His Majesty King Abdullah II, the plan for the return of Jordanian students abroad is scheduled to start on May 5, the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said today.

During a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Adaileh said that the first group will be consisting of 3,049 male and female students who will be brought back to the Kingdom within three days, confirming that the Crisis Cell will announce the full details of the plan tomorrow.

"The first flights will start from Egypt and Turkey," he stated, adding that preparations are under way for the return of another group of stranded students, one week after the mentioned date.

He affirmed that "His Majesty King Abdullah II was briefed on the plan and stressed the importance of bringing the students back home with full transparency, fairness, and regularity, and taking into account the required health protection measures."

"His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein also stressed the need to follow preventive and precautionary measures, and the commitment of those coming from abroad for sufficient periods of time, to ensure that they are not infected with the virus," Adaileh mentioned.

The Minister called on Jordanians to strictly adhere to the instructions and not to commit any violations under legal liability, affirming that the government considers issuing a new defence order that includes penalties against anyone who does not comply with preventive measures.

Adaileh warned the elderly and children of leaving their homes unless necessary because they are at higher risk to get infected with the virus and transmitting it.
