Expatriates working in Jordan who are wishing to go back to their home countries will be able to withdraw their social security benefits before they leave the country, the Minister of Labour, Nidal Bataineh, said today.

In a statement, Bataineh explained that upon limiting the number of submitted leave applications via the hemayah.jo platform, as the registration ends on May 4, the names of applicants will be sent to the Social Security Corporation (SSC) to be processed, where workers will receive a notification stating that the application has been accepted.

The Minister added that the applicants will receive their financial dues within 72 hours from the last day of the registration, noting that the obtained notification is also a movement permit that allows the applicant to go to the nearest SSC branch.

Earlier on Saturday, April 25, Bataineh announced that the government will allow expatriates working in the Kingdom to return to their home countries.

He confirmed that registered workers will be exempted from travel fines or any sums they may incur related to work permit fees and other fees due to the current circumstances in light of the corona crisis, stressing that this applies to expatriates whose residence permits expired.
