Minister of Education Tayseer Noami has confirmed today that the second academic semester is continuing and that there are no plans to cancel it, urging students to take their lessons via the dedicated online platforms and TV channels.

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the minister said the only option available to all stakeholders at the current stage is to continue the distance learning process, noting that 65% of the 195 school days have already elapsed when the nationwide lockdown was announced following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Noami indicated that his ministry is planning some procedures and programs, which will be revealed at a later time if necessary, to address any gaps in student learning, especially those who do not have the necessary tools and means for distance education.

He revealed that the ministry will ask teachers on Thursday to activate their accounts on NoorSpace platform to strengthen communication with students, adding that the ministry will also announce a student performance evaluation timetable via the said platform.

Next week, he said, the ministry will start to evaluate the distance education process, through questionnaires prepared specifically for students, teachers and parents to identify all aspects of this process and ways of development.
