Head of Al-Bashir Hospital, Dr. Mahmoud Zureiqat has revealed that a female nurse in the women's orthopedic department of the hospital is one of the 33 people infected with the novel coronavirus.

In a statement to Roya, Zureiqat said that as the nurse showed symptoms of the virus five days after she returned from Palestine, she immediately underwent the COVID-19 examination and tested positive.

"The nurse was quarantined and all the nurses in the orthopedic department and those who had direct contact with her in the hospital were tested," Zureiqat stated.

Zureiqat stressed that the nurse's health status is good and stable, confirming that she was isolated until she fully recovers.

"A medical team specialized in epidemiological investigation went today to her family’s home and met all who had direct contact with her upon her return from Palestine," Zureiqat said, adding that they will all undergo medical examinations later and will be quarantined for 14 days.

He explained that "the sample tests will not be accurate because it is too early for the laboratory signs to appear for the COVID-19 test."

All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of all workers and patients in the hospital.
