The Carrefour Jordan has issued an official statement after the first coronavirus case in the Kingdom was reported.

The statement read:

"Following updates from the Ministry of Health, we are relieved to announce that our colleague is showing positive signs of recovery and that employees from our head office who were tested by health officials do not have COVID-19. We would like to reiterate that the employee undergoing treatment works at our head office in Jordan and does not interact directly with our customers.

In coordination with the Ministry of Health, we have taken the precautionary step of temporarily closing our head office to conduct deep cleaning and sanitation of the premises. We will reopen our doors once this process is completed and this won’t impact the day-to-day operations of our business.

In our stores, we conduct routine daily cleaning of the surfaces and touchpoints in line with our stringent policies on hygiene, health and safety and have intensified our efforts during this time. We also replenish our fresh food products on a daily basis as standard practice. All stores are operating as normal, welcoming and serving customers.

We urge the public to be mindful of rumors circulating on social media and only trust information from official sources.
