A number of students attending Harvard University on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, walked out of a lecture by Dani Dayan, the Consul General of Israel in New York and former chairman of the Yesha Council.
The title of the lecture was "The Legal Strategy of Israeli Settlements". Students wearing the keffiyeh (traditional Arab headdress) and holding protest signs against the Israeli occupation and the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria were seen at the start of the lecture.
As Dayan began speaking, dozens of students rose to their feet and stood in the aisles, holding signs that read "Settlements are a war crime."
Pro-Palestinian students participated in a silent walk-out of the event, leaving Dayan speaking to a mostly empty room.
One of the students shouted at Dayan, "The settlements are genocide", before walking out.
We stand in solidarity with @WaterPalestine and the walkout they organized for an event called "The Legal Strategy for Israeli Settlements" by Israeli ambassador Dani Dayan. Israeli settlements are illegal under international law & we demand justice for the Palestinian community. pic.twitter.com/JS6kz0hkiR— Harvard Students for Bernie (@Harvard4Bernie) November 13, 2019
