Industrial production down by 0.7%

The General Industrial Production Quantities index for the first seven months of 2019 dropped by 0.7%, compared to the same period in 2018, according to the latest figures.

The index went down from 89.3 to 88.6 in 2019, a report issued by the Department of Statistics (DoS) indicated.

The decrease comes as a result of a drop in the production quantities of the manufacturing industries index by 1.35 percentage points, with a relative importance of 86 %, while the production quantities of the extracted industries index rose by 0.44 percentage points, with a relative importance of 2.8 %, it said.

The report also showed an increase in the production quantities of electricity by 0.17 percentage points, with a relative importance of 8.5 %.
