As of Monday, June 24, 2019, the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture has banned Jordanian sailors from going back and forth from Syria and Jordan to bring their cars loaded with Syrian fruits and vegetables.

This decision was made to ensure that the health and safety of citizens are not at risk because of the amount of high-level pesticide residue the Syrian products contain.

However, this would also help protect local farmers from unnecessary competition because of the product's low prices.

The Ministry is urging the Jordanian citizens to not buy these fruits and veggies because of the harm it can do to one's body.
