The Jordanian Minister of Agriculture and Environment Ibrahim al-Shahahdeh launched at the dawn of Sunday, May 5, 2019, the desert locust control campaign after providing the desert locust control plane with the necessary sprayers and pesticides in cooperation with the Royal Air Force, Royal Badia Forces and the other partners of the campaign.

The locust swarms cover an area of three kilometers south of the Kingdom, Shahhadeh said, adding that locusts are in their second stage, meaning that they are still incomplete, which in turn helps in the fight against these swarms.

Shahahdeh had been briefed on the monitoring and exploration results of the monitoring groups in the southern regions of the Kingdom, which consist of 17 monitoring teams and 27 combat teams.

Shahahdeh stressed that the Ministry relies on the cooperation of the Jordanian community, especially animal breeders who would contact the Ministry once they see any swarms during grazing.

Minister Shahahdeh instructed the main emergency room headed by the Secretary General of the Ministry to raise the level of the state of emergency, work on gathering information, communicate with all the teams deployed in the Kingdom, check on the pesticides and mechanisms and their readiness, not to neglect any piece of information and to deal with it with great interest.
