Spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture Lawrence al-Majali said on Saturday, May 4, 2019, that the Ministry is preparing for the possibility of the entry of locust swarms near Al-Mudawwara area in Ma'an where the latest indicators and survey results showed that swarms of locusts are 50-100 kilometers far from the Jordan-Saudi borders.

Majali stressed that it is so important for the minister of Agriculture and Environment Ibrahim al-Shahahdeh to check on the operation room in Ma'an and on the readiness of the Ministry to deal with locust swarms through its specialized cadres and partners and the survey and control teams deployed in all governorates, especially in the southern regions of the Kingdom.

Majali pointed to the necessity of relying on the information issued by the emergency room at the Ministry building, headed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Majali added that the emergency room includes all the partner institutions, such as the Royal Air Force, the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD), the Royal Badia Forces, the Jordan Customs and Aqaba Region Authority.
