In light of the Dead Sea tragedy, the Public Prosecutor General in Amman detained on Tuesday the headmistress of Victoria College School and seven others from the school and the Ministry of Education.

On Monday, November 5, the House of Representatives refused to refer the report by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the Dead Sea case to the Public Prosecutor’s office.

Last month, flash floods claimed the lives of 14 students and some of their teachers, when Victoria College changed the route of a scheduled field trip from Azraq to the Dead Sea, and ignored the extreme weather warnings.

Following the tragic event, the school was briefly suspended before it went under administration of the Ministry of Education.
