Bassam Talhouni was appointed Minister of Justice as part of the Cabinet reshuffle decision on October 11, 2018.

Born in 1964, Talhouni is a lawyer, academic and politician. He received his BA and MA degree in law from the University of Jordan, and holds a PhD in law from the University of Edinburgh.

Talhouni registered at the Jordan Bar Association in 1988, and worked as an assistant professor at the University of Jordan’s Law Faculty, to later become the associate dean of the faculty.

Between 2013 and 2016, Talhouni served as Minister of Justice in the cabinet led by former Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, and stayed on in Hani Mulki's government. He lost his position in the cabinet reshuffle on 29 September 2016 and was replaced by Awad Mashagbeh. Talhouni was later appointed as senator.
