According to a video that went viral on various Social Media platforms on Monday, September 3, 2018; a group of teachers and staff members from Al al-Bayt University (AABU) appeared at the President’s office, angry and demanding the President’s resignation. Accordingly, AABU President, Dia Eddin Arafah, left his office.

This came as a reaction to the Board of Trustees’ recent decision of extending Arafah’s presidency for another term. A decision that the academic staff is not in favor of.

Earlier, AABU employees expressed their disapproval of renewing a new term for Arafah, saying that the University’s state has deteriorated since he was appointed President.

Jordanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Adel Tweissi, announced on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 that those who assaulted the President were suspended until the incident is investigated further.
