Preparations are currently undergoing as Russian President Vladimir Putin plans an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) following his invitation by Saudi Monarch, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The news of Putin’s visit was announced by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, on Friday August 24, 2018. This comes two days after Bogdanov received the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Russia, Rayed Krimly. The two officials discussed Middle Eastern issues while focusing on “developments in Syria, Yemen and the Persian Gulf”, according to reports by the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on August 20, 2018.
Earlier this week, the Russian Foreign Ministry has had a busy timetable filled with Arab and Middle Eastern envoys. In the past three days alone, Bogdanov received more than three Ambassadors from the MENA region where discussions mainly focused on the “situation in Syria”.
Below is the timetable as quoted by the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation:
