A tenth grader was pronounced dead on Thursday morning, after he was badly beaten up by his classmate at a school in Irbid on Wednesday, a security source has said.

A fight had broken out between the two students yesterday, resulting in the death of the 16-year-old boy after he was transferred to the hospital. According to the same source, the deceased had a history of heart disease.

The attacker has been arrested and will be referred to the judiciary.

Violence amongst students has been on the rise in Jordan as of late. In a similar incident on Wednesday, a student was shot in the head outside his school in Amman, after a fight broke out between him and his fellow classmates.
