Jailed Tariq Ramadan hospitalized due to Multiple sclerosis
Tariq Ramadan, a notable Islamic scholar, has been hospitalized due to Multiple sclerosis (MS), according to his support group.
Ramadan has been under police custody in France since 31 January, 2018 due to alleged rape charges. Soon after, he was jailed.
The Oxford University professor was hospitalized on Friday evening, a close source confirms, and his health is not improving.
The 55-year-old will now undergo a medical examination in order to decide whether or not he will be able to remain in jail before his next trial.
The test results evaluating his health condition will determine whether or not he will remain in jail. These will be announced on 22 February, 2018.
As of now, his wife and children have not been allowed to visit him, reported France24.
His wife confesses, “I am torn between reading what the press says about him and hid[ing] in my bubble waiting [for] justice to be served.”
Ramadan’s case is following several allegations of rape and sexual assault.
