Israeli court renews Palestinian child detention
Ofar Israeli court decided on Monday to renew the detention of Palestinian child Ahed Al-Tamimi,17, who is accused of beating Israeli soldiers ,until Thursday as “she is considered a danger on the security of the state.”
The court will decide later if it will also renew the detention of Ahed’s mother, Nariman Al-Tamimi,43, and Ahed’s cousin, Nour Al-Tamimi, after she appeared in a video beating two Israeli soldiers along with Ahed at Al-Nabi Saleh village located in occupied West Bank.
A young man from the same family was injured by Israeli forces earlier on Friday during the protests which started earlier this month in opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest decision to recognize Jerusalem as an Israeli capital.
Al-Tamimi family is known for their activism against the Israeli occupation, Ahed was filmed couple of times while having clashes with Israeli army in her village, she is known for always being a part of Al-Nabi Saleh demonstrations.
A video of Ahed at the court went viral on social media pages on Sunday after she smiled to the camera and said “I’m fine ,Hamdulellah.” many social media activists consider Ahed as an icon for angry resisting children.
