Hamas said on Monday that it opposes the Arab league resolution labeling Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

"We assure that the terrorism of the Zionist enemy is what should be condemned," Hamas said in a press release, calling on Muslim countries to confront Israel and to support Palestinian attempts to reclaim lost land.

Hamas considered any escalation against other parties rather than Israel is a waste of energy.

Arab foreign ministers on Sunday described the Lebanese group Hezbollah as a "terrorist organization" and announced their intention to discuss Iran’s intervention’s in the region at the UN Security Council.

On his account on Twitter, senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouq wrote on Twitter that the Arab League censure of Hezbollah is not related to the Lebanese organization's interference  in the Syrian civil war, but rather is about the Arab powers’ rivalry with Iran.

The resolution comes amid tension between Saudi Arabia and Shiite Iran, the biggest supporter of Hezbollah armed group. The two powers opposed each other taking part in the Arab conflicts including Syria and Yemen.

Earlier this month, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced resignation from Saudi Arabia, threatening to "cut Iran's hand in the region." Reports said that he was referring to Hezbllah by this speech, and that Saudi Arabia has forced him to resign.

Hamas took over Gaza by power in 2007 after winning a street battle with Pro-Abbas forces ousting them to the West Bank. Since then, Israel had three wars with Hamas in Gaza. It's also listed by the US and the international community as a terrorist group. Meanwhile, Hezbollah had a military confrontation with Israel in 2006.
