The Royal Jordanian plane carrying the body of first lieutenant Ahmed Khawaldeh landed at Queen Alia Airport in Amman earlier today on August 26, 2018.

Khawaldeh died after his helicopter crashed during a flight training session in the US, an official source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces announced on August 21, 2018.

The Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) released an earlier statement regarding the delayed retrieval of the martyr’s body; “Since the news of the lieutenant’s death, all necessary measures have been taken along with coordination between the two countries [Jordan and the US]. The Jordanian military attaché in Washington were in contact with the military base in Houston and supervised the process of transfer preparations to the Kingdom.”

JAF pointed out that a Jordanian-American investigative team was formed to determine the cause of the accident and that arrangements were conducted through direct cooperation between the two sides and with support from both the US Embassy in Amman and the Jordanian Embassy in Washington.
