The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) stated that it has taken all necessary measures, through official channels, to stop the interference with the Global Positioning System (GPS) in Jordan.

The TRC clarified on Thursday that this interference is conducted through ground transmitters that simulate the GPS system and send signals to receivers, resulting in the reception of signals from the interference stations being higher than the original signals emitted from the GPS system.

Eng. Nidal Al-Samara, Director of the Spectrum Management Department at the TRC, pointed out that the interference signals work by sending random or coordinated signals that reduce the receivers' ability to accurately determine their locations and paths, leading to deviations in location and path determination from the correct ones.

He added that receivers within the range of the interference transmitters and the settings of the transmission capabilities and frequency configurations used are affected, noting that stations causing interference have been identified and their locations determined using advanced radio monitoring devices and systems.

Al-Samara explained that the use of frequencies in radio communication systems is subject to international rules and local regulations that determine the framework for use, geographic coverage, and technical standards for transmission stations and devices.
