Around 2,000 Irish nationalist demonstrators gathered in Portadown, Northern Ireland, to protest a pro-British Protestant march by the Orange Order.

The march was authorized for the first time since 1997 by a Belfast court and was due to pass through a Catholic neighbourhood.

Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald called on the government to “call a halt to this madness,” while Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill said the police force had “serious questions to answer.”
