A suspect was shot and killed after opening fire at a Secret Service checkpoint near the White House on Saturday evening.

 According to authorities, the individual drew a weapon and began firing before agents returned fire.

 One bystander was also struck and hospitalized. 

US President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time, and no protectees or officers were injured. The incident remains under investigation.
