The Jordanian government has condemned a deadly attack on security personnel in Amman on Thursday, which claimed the life of Corporal Jawad Ali Khalaf Al-Salaita, describing the deadly attack as an attack on state authority and the rule of law while noting that preliminary findings point to a "cowardly terrorist act."

The remarks were delivered by Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al Momani following the death of a security personnel member and the injury of a colleague while performing their operational duties, stating: "An attack on security personnel while performing their duty is an attack on the prestige of the state and the rule of law, and an attack on every Jordanian man and woman. We will not tolerate any assailant or act that targets Jordan and Jordanians."

Al Momani reiterated that Jordan’s institutions remain steadfast in maintaining order and protecting both citizens and residents, underscoring that the country's peace and stability remain paramount.

"The security and stability of the homeland come above all else," he stated. "The state and its institutions are capable of protecting its citizens and residents on its soil, and enforcing the law decisively against anyone who transgresses or attacks."

The minister confirmed that the Prime Minister is closely following operational and investigative developments with relevant security directorates, with direct instructions issued to rapidly determine the circumstances and motives behind the assault and to bring every perpetrator to justice.

Concluding his remarks, Al Momani offered condolences to the family of the fallen officer and wished a prompt recovery to the wounded serviceman, praising the continued sacrifices of the country’s military and security personnel:

"Sacrifice has never been foreign to the stalwarts of our military and security agencies, nor is martyrdom in the cause of God and the homeland unfamiliar to our valiant soldiers. Our heartfelt condolences and sympathies go to the family of the martyr of duty and his comrades, and our wishes for a speedy recovery to his injured colleague. May God have mercy on the martyr of the nation and keep Jordan safe and stable."

King Abdullah II is closely following operational and investigative developments surrounding the terrorist attack, receiving regular updates from competent security agencies as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances and motives behind the attack.

Meanwhile, the Regent visited the wounded security personnel at the hospital to check on his health condition and ensure he is receiving comprehensive medical care, underscoring the leadership's support for the armed forces and security personnel who risk their lives to safeguard Jordan's stability.

The Attorney General of the State Security Court, Military Judge Brigadier General Ahmad Talaat Shahaltough, stated that the State Security Court Public Prosecution has initiated investigative proceedings into the events of the terrorist act that occurred today, Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, targeting Public Security personnel in the city of Amman.
