  • Olivia Rodrigo’s first original Christmas single, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas),” featuring Cynthia Nixon and comedian Ben Marshall in its music video, is set for release on November 5.
  • The announcement prompted backlash from some ‘Israeli’ social media users after an ‘Israeli’ media channel shared the news on Instagram.

Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming Christmas single has drawn criticism from some ‘Israeli’ social media users, with the announcement of her collaboration with actress Cynthia Nixon prompting calls for boycotts and accusations of anti-’Israel’ sentiment.

Rodrigo, who has publicly expressed support for Palestinians and spoken out about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, announced her first original holiday single, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas),” on Nov. 2. The track will feature Nixon, known for her role as Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City, and comedian Ben Marshall in its accompanying music video.

The reaction became visible after an ‘Israeli’ media channel shared the announcement on Instagram, where some commenters criticized the two women over their positions on Palestine.

One user dismissed the celebrities as “completely irrelevant,” questioning why they were receiving attention. Another described Nixon as “always on the wrong side of everything” and said Rodrigo was “also anti Israel,” adding that both would be added to their boycott list.

The same commenter accused celebrities of opposing Israel to appeal to younger audiences, writing that they followed what Gen Z supported to fit in.

The backlash comes against the backdrop of both women's public support for Palestinians, particularly their criticism of ‘Israel's’ war on Gaza.

Nixon has been among Hollywood's most vocal advocates for a ceasefire. In Nov. 2023, she joined activists outside the White House for a five-day hunger strike demanding an end to the war, holding a sign accusing then-President Joe Biden of allowing Palestinians in Gaza to be starved. She has also supported South Africa's genocide case against ‘Israel’ at the International Court of Justice.

In a 2025 interview with ‘Israeli’ media, Nixon defended her activism, saying she felt morally compelled to speak out against ‘Israel's’ military campaign.

Rodrigo, meanwhile, publicly condemned the crisis in Gaza in July 2025, saying Palestinians were facing starvation, dehydration and a lack of medical care. She also disclosed making a donation to UNICEF to support civilians affected by the conflict and encouraged her followers to contribute.

The singer has since defended her decision to speak out on political issues. In a June 2026 interview with BBC News, she said she did not consider being liked by everyone her primary goal, explaining that she admired outspoken women artists while growing up.

The Nov. 5 release will mark Rodrigo's first original holiday song. Written with Dan Nigro and Amy Allen and produced by Nigro, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas)” will arrive alongside its music video featuring Nixon and Saturday Night Live comedian Ben Marshall. Seven-inch vinyl and cassette editions will also be released, with the vinyl available in Target stores from Nov. 6.
