  • While Trump noted talks are continuing and Tehran seeks an agreement, he questioned Iranian reliability regarding whether an accord will actually be signed
  • The remarks followed discussions between Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, and CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper

Speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Saturday, US President Donald Trump signaled readiness for potential renewed military action against Iran, stating that American forces possess operational plans capable of hitting remaining components of Tehran’s nuclear infrastructure in "just ten minutes".

"There are one or two sites left that need to be dealt with, including Pickaxe Mountain. We can do it in ten minutes. We have a plan for it, and we can execute it very quickly," Trump said.

The US president offered a guarded assessment of current negotiations. "They want to reach an agreement, and we will see what happens. Things are moving along fine, but they are not really reliable," Trump said. "They reach an agreement and then back out. They want to reach an agreement, and we will see if they actually sign it."

The statements followed a high-level review of options for resuming military operations conducted with senior defense officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, and US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Adm. Brad Cooper.

Over recent weeks, the Pentagon has reinforced regional air defense systems, munitions stockpiles, and military equipment, while simultaneously repositioning personnel away from facilities considered vulnerable to potential Iranian retaliatory strikes.

The rhetoric comes as the Trump administration enters the final stretch before congressional midterm elections on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Washington has sought to manage the timeline of any confrontation, while Tehran is viewed as deliberately pacing negotiations until the US electoral outcome is determined.

Defense officials assess that despite advanced readiness by CENTCOM and 'Israeli' forces, the White House is disinclined to authorize a strike prior to election day barring indications of an imminent, unprovoked attack.

A senior official quoted by Yedioth Ahronoth indicated that prevailing indicators point more toward a resumption of war than the conclusion of a diplomatic deal, noting that 'Israel' is preparing for the possibility of renewed combat immediately following the conclusion of the US elections.

According to the 'Israeli' outlet, 'Israeli' political and security leadership have spent recent weeks examining operational scenarios, including potential strikes on Iranian critical infrastructure and energy facilities should the White House grant a green light for renewed military action.
