Three brothers convicted of leveraging their wealth and elite social standing in New York and Miami to drug and sexually assault women were each sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday.
The sentences were handed down in Manhattan federal court by US District Judge Valerie Caproni against 39-year-old twins Alon Alexander and Oren Alexander, along with their older brother Tal Alexander, 40.
The decision comes seven months after the trio was found guilty following a six-week trial on multiple sex offense charges, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.
Judge Caproni described the brothers' conduct as "monstrous," according to multiple media reports.
Lawyers representing the defendants did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Before their legal downfall, Oren and Tal Alexander were known as prominent figures in the high-end property sector as co-founders of the luxury real estate brokerage Official.
Their brother, Alon Alexander, worked as an executive at Kent Security, a security company operated by their family.
Federal prosecutors had pushed for life sentences for all three men, while defense counsel requested the mandatory minimum prison term of 15 years.
According to prosecutors, the brothers spent at least 14 years exploiting their wealth and access to high society to prey on women and girls.
More than 70 women came forward stating they were assaulted by one or more of the brothers across various luxury locations, including Manhattan, the Hamptons on New York’s Long Island, and Aspen, Colorado.
Detailing specific offenses, prosecutors highlighted an incident from January 2017 in which three teenage girls celebrating their high school senior year at an Aspen nightclub were drugged by the brothers.
The victims were lured to the brothers' five-star hotel under the pretext of an after-party, where they were subsequently assaulted.
In a statement released through the US Attorney's office in Manhattan, which led the prosecution, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch commended the outcome: "With today's sentencing, they will finally face the consequences they deserve for the incredible harm they inflicted on so many."
