Iran’s judiciary announced on Saturday that its chief, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, held a rare meeting with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared in public since taking office.

Mojtaba Khamenei was selected in March to succeed his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the first US-‘Israeli’ strikes on Tehran on February 28, which triggered the war in the Middle East.

The judiciary’s Mizan Online website reported that the meeting addressed “protecting public rights, effectively combating corruption and the obstacles facing these efforts,” as well as “compensating for material and moral damages resulting from crimes committed by American and Zionist criminals.”

Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the attack that killed his father and other officials, with health authorities describing his injuries as minor.

He has not appeared in public since then, communicating only through written messages, some of which were published in handwriting attributed to him.

No date or location was announced for his meeting with Mohseni-Eje'i, as was also the case with previously announced meetings with other officials.

Earlier this week, Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, met with the supreme leader to discuss “the latest developments” related to the war with the United States.

President Masoud Pezeshkian was also reported to have met Khamenei in May, in one of the first publicly announced meetings with the new supreme leader.
