  • Jordan secured 50th place globally out of 165 economies with an overall economic freedom score of 7.38 out of 10
  • Jordan placed 3rd worldwide behind Switzerland and Finland, scoring 9.59 out of 10 for price stability, inflation management, and monetary policies

Jordan secured 50th place globally out of 165 countries and territories in the Economic Freedom of the World 2026 Annual Report, published by Canada’s Fraser Institute in collaboration with the Cato Institute.

Based on 2024 empirical economic data, Jordan achieved an overall score of 7.38 out of 10 across the index's five composite pillars, demonstrating structural resilience despite ongoing regional headwinds.

The country achieved a notable 3rd place globally in the Sound Money pillar with a score of 9.59 out of 10, ranking directly behind Switzerland and Finland.

The indicator assesses price stability, low inflation rate volatility, controlled money supply growth, and the legal freedom to hold foreign currency accounts.

In other core areas, Jordan ranked 25th worldwide in the Regulation pillar with a score of 7.38, supported by administrative frameworks across credit markets, labor regulations, and business procedures.

The country also scored 8.13 out of 10 in International Trade Freedom, ranking 52nd globally due to low tariff barriers and capital movement flexibility.

Banking expert Dr. Mohsen Abu Awad said the achievement reflects the importance of prudent monetary policies that have helped reinforce monetary stability, strengthen confidence in the dinar and reduce uncertainty, creating a more favorable environment for saving, investment and long-term economic planning.

Abu Awad said the real value of the achievement should not stop at the international ranking, but should serve as a starting point for maximizing the benefits of monetary stability by stimulating productive investment, expanding the production base, increasing exports, enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and creating jobs.

"From here, the importance of integration between monetary policy and economic, fiscal and investment policies becomes clear, alongside continued development of the legislative and regulatory environment, improving financing efficiency and directing it toward productive, value-added sectors, in a way that strengthens the Jordanian economy's ability to achieve higher and more sustainable growth rates," he stated.
