  • Both suspects were extradited to Germany following their arrests in Denmark. In the wake of the disclosures, Beck requested the expulsion of Iranian diplomats from Germany.

A higher regional court in Hamburg on Thursday sentenced two men to prison terms after convicting them of allegedly spying on Jewish community members and planning targeted attacks on prominent pro-'Israel' public figures under the direction of Iranian intelligence, according to AFP.

Danish national Ali S. was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after being found guilty of claimed espionage for sabotage purposes, attempted participation in murder, and arson planning.

His co-conspirator, Afghan national Tawab M., received a four-and-a-half-year sentence for attempted participation in murder after agreeing to recruit an operative and supply a firearm to carry out an assassination.

According to prosecutors, Ali S. received instructions in early 2025 from the Quds Force, the external operations wing of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The plot targeted prominent public figures, including Volker Beck, president of the German-'Israeli' Society, and Dr. Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.

Both men were taken into custody following their arrests in Denmark and subsequent extradition to Germany.
