Syria is considering options to extend military support to Saudi Arabia as the conflict against Houthis in Yemen continues to escalate, according to Reuters.

Potential measures include defensive support to shield Saudi Arabia from aerial attacks or deploying troops to assist Yemeni government forces backed by the Saudi forces on the ground, according to a US official and a Syrian military official source.

Addressing the reports, a Syrian diplomat told Reuters that while Syria stands firmly with Saudi Arabia,”the government's primary focus was on domestic priorities such as recovery from the country's civil war.”

"Should Saudi Arabia request any military cooperation or exchange of expertise, this would take place exclusively through official channels and within the framework of the bilateral agreements governing relations between our two brotherly countries," the diplomat stated.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa made a visit to Riyadh on Tuesday, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS).

Their discussions covered several topics, including potential Syrian military support for Saudi Arabia, According to the US official cited by the Report.
