‘Israeli’ military officials have warned that Iran could launch missiles at ‘Israel’ as US economic pressure intensifies and Tehran’s financial situation worsens, according to a report by The Jerusalem Post.

Senior officials briefed members of the Security Cabinet on Sunday about the risk, expressing concern that continued American measures, combined with Iran’s deteriorating economy, might prompt an Iranian response despite a relative lull in direct exchanges.

Military Intelligence Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder told ministers that the US maritime and air blockade is “very effective.”

He added: “The maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is having a significant effect. The Americans control the strait – much more than the Iranians control it.”

Senior officials also noted that an air blockade that began roughly two weeks earlier is further strengthening the overall pressure.

On September 23, the United States imposed sanctions on 27 Iranian airlines, cutting off fuel suppliers and ground-handling services from the dollar-based financial system.

Numerous countries subsequently barred Iranian carriers from their territory.

“All Iranian airlines have been grounded,” US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.

‘Israeli’ officials reportedly told ministers these steps are producing clear economic effects inside Iran.

“The situation is deteriorating. Every day, it gets worse. If Trump remains persistent, this will go in a good direction,” the officials said.

Since a lull followed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire on April 7, Iran has launched missiles at ‘Israel’ only once.

The ‘Israeli’ assessment comes amid broader signs of strain in Iran.

Iran’s national security adviser Mohsen Rezaei recently described the economy as facing one of the most difficult periods in the country’s history, with the rial plunging and oil exports heavily constrained by the US naval blockade.
