Abu Obaida, the military spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, said the October 7, 2023 operation represented what he described as a major military achievement in planning and execution, as well as in strategic deception.

Speaking in remarks marking the anniversary of the operation, Abu Obaida said the attack demonstrated what he called “exceptional” planning and operational capabilities.

He acknowledged that the operation came at a high cost for the Gaza Strip, saying the consequences of what he called the “Operation Aqsa Typhoon” operation had been severe.

Abu Obaida also praised what he described as the response of people in Gaza, saying their actions had “changed the course of history and the balance of the world.”

His comments came as the war that began with the October 7 events continues to have wide regional and international repercussions.

The October 7 operation resulted in the deaths of 'Israeli' and foreign nationals and the capture of hostages, according to ‘Israeli’ authorities. ‘Israel’ subsequently launched its military campaign in the Gaza Strip, resulting in widespread destruction and a large number of Palestinian deaths and injuries.
