New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast that US aid to ‘Israel’ amid the Gaza aggression is driving public distrust in government institutions.

Referring to ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "the architect of a horrific genocide," Mamdani stated that official talk of ceasefires rings hollow as civilian deaths continue.

He cited a recent report of an 11-year-old Palestinian boy killed in a designated safe zone to illustrate what he described as ongoing, unchecked violence in the region.

During the interview, Mamdani recounted hosting displaced Palestinian families at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's official residence.

He detailed meeting a mother and two daughters who described how a single airstrike killed two of their brothers and injured one sister, leaving the rest of the family living in a tent while the father remained trapped in Gaza.

"All these people want is what everybody wants: they just want their family, they want safety, they want dignity," Mamdani said.

He said that the American public’s faith in the government erodes when citizens watch human rights being stripped away while knowing their tax dollars are actively financing the destruction.

"One of the reasons people don't have faith," Mamdani said, "is they look at the kinds of things that governments do, and they say, 'Why would I believe in that?'"
