Activists confronted CNN anchor Dana Bash at a book event in Washington, D.C., over the network’s coverage of the war in Gaza, according to footage obtained from Sumer Mobarak.
During the confrontation, protesters criticized Bash over the killing of Palestinian journalists and challenged her coverage of the conflict.
“How dare you not mention the over 260 Palestinian journalists that are your colleagues,” one protester told Bash. The protestor also accused her of having “continued to dehumanize Palestinians.”

Bash’s coverage
Bash has faced criticism from pro-Palestinian activists over her coverage of the ‘Israel’-Gaza war. In May 2024, she compared pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Los Angeles to anti-Jewish pogroms in 1930s Europe and argued that there had been a ceasefire on Oct. 6, 2023, before the Hamas-led attack the following day. Critics said the framing overlooked the broader context of the conflict.
Her coverage has also been cited amid wider criticism of CNN's reporting on Gaza. Current and former CNN staffers have alleged that the network's coverage favored ‘Israeli’ narratives and gave insufficient space to Palestinian perspectives, allegations CNN has rejected.
Journalists killed by ‘Israel’
The number cited by the protesters also reflects wider concern over the risks faced by Palestinian journalists. The Committee to Protect Journalists, reported in June that at least 260 Palestinian journalists had been killed since October 2023.
