  • The administration framed the actions as part of an "American Energy Dominance" drive to cut domestic fuel costs before the midterms.
  • Trump touted an expanded agreement with South Korea involving an $8.4 billion investment in US enhanced oil recovery projects.

US President Donald Trump issued a pair of announcements on Truth Social on Friday, claiming that European allies will immediately release emergency diesel reserves and hailing an $8.4 billion South Korean investment in American oil recovery.

The statements come as the administration faces mounting domestic pressure over elevated fuel costs and supply concerns linked to regional tensions.

Addressing the European agreement, US President Trump confirmed that European nations had committed to unlocking emergency fuel reserves to stabilize markets.

"Europe has just agreed to release a massive amount of their heavily stocked Diesel Oil. The process will begin immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" US President Trump posted on Truth Social.

South Korean deal

In a subsequent statement, US President Trump highlighted expanding economic and energy agreements with the Republic of Korea, emphasizing a multi-billion-dollar commitment aimed at expanding domestic output.

"I am thrilled to announce the Republic of Korea Deal keeps getting BETTER! 8.4 Billion Dollars for an enhanced Oil Recovery Project," Trump wrote. "Producing more Oil and Gas means American Energy Dominance and Energy Security in the World for the Future!"

The $8.4 billion project expands upon broader bilateral investment talks between Washington and Seoul.

While Trump praised the agreement, South Korea's Ministry of Industry issued a clarifying statement noting that large-scale joint energy infrastructure initiatives will proceed following comprehensive reviews assessing commercial viability and legal requirements.

Energy market stability ahead of elections

The twin announcements reflect a concerted effort by the White House to demonstrate active management of global commodity streams.

Diesel prices have remained a critical area of economic concern, directly influencing logistics, transportation, and consumer prices.

By pushing for the immediate release of European fuel reserves alongside expanded bilateral capital injections into domestic oil fields, the administration seeks to boost market supply and lower costs for consumers.
