Act of sabotage triggers fire along gas pipeline in Syria

A fire broke out Tuesday after midnight along a natural gas pipeline connecting the Al-Shola area to Deir ez-Zor, following an explosion at a sectional valve caused by an act of sabotage, state news agency SANA reported.
Speaking to SANA, Hisham Al-Saleh, head of the gas sector at the Syrian Petroleum Company, confirmed that the incident led to a complete disruption in gas supply pumped from the Jbeissa gas plant to local electricity generation stations.
Gas pressure decreases
Emergency response teams deployed immediately to the site, moving to isolate the pipeline section upstream and downstream from the fire to prevent further spread.
Al-Saleh confirmed that firefighting units are actively working to finalize the extinguishment process as gas pressure inside the isolated pipeline segment continues to decrease.
The area connecting Al-Shola and Deir ez-Zor serves as a critical energy corridor housing key facilities and pipelines associated with the transportation and production of natural gas.
