Iran warns US of “making a mistake” if it carries out strikes

Iran has warned that any new US military action against the country would be a “mistake” and trigger attacks on American interests across the region, as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high.
The warning was issued by Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the country’s central military command, in a statement carried by Iranian state media.
The command said that if the United States took military action against Iran, "all" US positions in the region would be targeted.
“The region is now at one of its most sensitive security junctures,” the statement added.
Diplomacy remains active
The warning comes amid competing military and diplomatic developments.
Recently, Tehran has linked any reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to a reduction in US military pressure and the lifting of a US blockade on Iranian ports.
Iran has also conveyed conditions for renewed negotiations through mediators.
Indirect US-Iran talks also took place through mediators during the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.
