Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has ordered an urgent investigation into the attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline, according to the Iraqi armed forces.

The Iraqi army spokesperson said the government appreciated Saudi Arabia’s response to Baghdad’s efforts to contain the situation.

“The Iraqi government appreciates the Kingdom’s stance and its response to the efforts made by Iraq to contain the situation,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Al-Zaidi directed authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible, according to the statement published by the state-run Iraq News Agency.

The prime minister also ordered legal measures to be taken against anyone proven to have been involved in the attack.
