Saudi Arabia’s UN representative Abdulaziz al-Wasil said Riyadh would take "all necessary measures" to deter Houthi attacks and protect its security and sovereignty.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, al-Wasil said Saudi Arabia would not hesitate to act in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

Riyadh calls for de-escalation

The Saudi diplomat said Riyadh supports Yemeni-led political solutions aimed at meeting the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability and prosperity.

He also urged the Security Council to send a clear message that attacks targeting Saudi Arabia must stop, military escalation inside Yemen must end, and threats to international navigation must cease.
