Jordan says 18 Iranian missiles intercepted

The Jordanian Armed Forces said the kingdom came under a missile attack originating from Iranian territory during the past several hours.

In a statement, the Armed Forces spokesperson said Jordanian air defense systems engaged 20 ballistic missiles launched toward Jordanian territory. Eighteen were successfully intercepted and destroyed, while two fell in areas away from population centers.

The military said the threat was handled according to established operational procedures to protect Jordanian airspace and civilians.

According to the military's field assessment, no deaths were recorded as a result of the attack.

Specialized teams have been deployed to sites where missile debris and falling fragments landed. Authorities are securing the locations and checking surrounding areas for potential hazards.

The Armed Forces urged residents not to approach, touch or move unidentified objects or debris and to immediately notify the relevant authorities if they discover any.

The Jordanian Armed Forces said its surveillance, warning and air defense systems remain at their highest levels of readiness to respond to any potential threat.

The military also urged citizens to avoid spreading rumors or unverified information, stressing that official statements remain the authorized source for updates on the situation.
