Iranian authorities have repeatedly announced arrests and clashes involving small armed cells inside the country, as well as confrontations with armed groups along its land borders, particularly in the lead-up to and during the US-‘Israel’ war on Iran.

The arrests have formed part of Tehran’s broader effort to portray the war as a national security struggle while signaling that authorities retain control and can deter threats both inside the country and along its borders.

Eight-member network arrested
In the latest case, Iranian state media reported on Sunday that authorities had arrested members of an eight-person network allegedly affiliated with "anti-revolutionary" and "pro-monarchy" groups.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Fars province accused those arrested of using Molotov cocktails and setting fire to tires during nationwide protests in January.

Iranian authorities have previously reported operations against armed groups and alleged security networks, often linking them to opposition movements or foreign-backed activity.

The latest arrests come as Tehran faces heightened security concerns amid the ongoing war and continued tensions along its borders.

Iranian officials have sought to use such arrests and clashes to reinforce a message of vigilance and control, while warning that armed activity and attempts to destabilize the country will face a forceful response.
