Huckabee: Trump was frustrated by Iranian intransigence
US Ambassador to ‘Israel’ Mike Huckabee said President Donald Trump was frustrated by what he described as the Iranians’ “intransigence,” according to the Jerusalem Post.
Huckabee described the US-mediated talks between Lebanon and ‘Israel’ as “historic,” saying the two sides are now sitting in the same room discussing how to move forward and remove Hezbollah from the equation to achieve peace.
“We are sitting in the same room today and talking about how to move forward and get Hezbollah out of the picture so there can be peace,” Huckabee said.
Iran war will remain a factor in midterm elections: White House official
A White House official told Politico that Iran will remain a factor in the US electoral landscape through November, as the war continues to shape the political environment.
“I don’t think we need to publicly state that the war will continue through November,” the official said, adding that most candidates and their campaigns understand Iran will remain “simply an issue in the background.”
Republicans weigh electoral impact
A Republican official said the Iran war had become “a reality” in the midterm elections, arguing that the administration would now need a “time machine” to reverse its potential electoral consequences.
Politico reported that messages from the White House to Republican candidates do not suggest that the situation is likely to change before Election Day.
