Italian B&B sends pro-Palestinian message to ‘Israeli’ traveler

A Tuscan B&B’s open solidarity with Palestinians prompted an ‘Israeli’ traveler to cancel her family birthday trip in Italy.
An ‘Israeli’ woman planning a 30th birthday celebration in Tuscany with her parents canceled a two-night booking at B&B L’Imbrunire after the property informed her of its support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement’s “No Room for Genocide” campaign.
The message arrived once hosts learned of her identity via WhatsApp while arranging direct payment outside the Holidu platform for dates in late September.
The hosts wrote: “Excuse me. I see you’re Israeli. For transparency, we support the BDS (No Room for Genocide) campaign. We do not want to support the policies of the state of Israel in any way, and we categorically condemn those who practice systems of injustice and oppression. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“This campaign, which we support, takes a stand against Israel’s military occupation and pledges not to contribute in any way to Israel’s grave violations of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of the Palestinian people. I hope you understand!” They continued.
The guest, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Jerusalem Post the wording left her feeling unwelcome even though it stopped short of an outright refusal.
“They didn’t explicitly say that I couldn’t stay there. However, the message was very strongly worded and made me feel that I might not be welcome or safe if I did stay there,” she said.
B&B L’Imbrunire, located in the village of Campiglia d’Orcia, did not respond to media requests for comment.
The episode fits a pattern of Italian hospitality businesses publicly aligning with Palestinian rights amid the ongoing war in Gaza.
The “No Room for Genocide” campaign, promoted by BDS Italy, encourages hotels and B&Bs to declare opposition to what participants describe as ‘Israeli’ policies of occupation and collective punishment, while welcoming those who stand with Palestinians and refugees.
Similar messages have appeared elsewhere in Italy.
