The Islamic Republic of Iran Army claimed a large-scale kamikaze drone strike targeting what it says US military assets stationed at Shaikh Isa Air Base in southern Bahrain, marking a further escalation in regional hostilities.
According to a statement issued by the Army's Public Relations department, the attack formed the 29th phase of "Operation Lightning" and was carried out in response to recent American strikes on southern Iranian territory.
"In the 29th stage of Operation Lightning and in response to the enemy's aggression against the southern regions of the country, hours ago, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran targeted radar facilities and gathering points of terrorist American forces at Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain with heavy waves of destructive drones," the Iranian Army Public Relations office stated.
The Iranian military command emphasized the strategic importance of the installation in Bahrain, characterizing Shaikh Isa Air Base as a core node for US aerial surveillance and logistical operations in the Gulf.
"Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain is one of the most important and sensitive U.S. bases in the Persian Gulf region, serving as a key center for the maintenance of helicopters and drone components, as well as hosting reconnaissance aircraft," the statement added.
The command concluded its official briefing with a warning of sustained military action, declaring that Iranian forces will inflict "a crushing and wide-ranging response, taking a harsh and regret-inducing revenge against the aggressors".
