Yair Netanyahu urgently returned to ‘Israel’ after Iranian assassination threat

‘Israel’s’ Shin Bet security agency confirmed to Hebrew Channel 12 that it arranged the urgent return of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son Yair to ‘Israel’ following a significant threat to his life.

The agency’s comments to Channel 12 came after reports that Yair Netanyahu was the target of an Iranian assassination plot while living in Florida in December 2025, and after the prime minister publicly stated that Iran had targeted one of his sons.

“There was a significant threat to harm Yair Netanyahu, and in light of this and after an assessment, a decision was made together with the security team to urgently rescue him and return him to Israel,” the Shin Bet told Channel 12, without elaborating on the nature of the threat.

Prime Minister Netanyahu first disclosed the matter in a live phone interview with Channel 14 earlier in the week.

“Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill, to murder one of my sons,” he said.

He later added: “Iran tried to murder one of my sons. And this is why this promise [of security] is more than a luxury — without it, they could succeed [in killing my son]. People need to show some restraint, especially during an election campaign.”

US outlet Newsmax, citing a law enforcement source, identified Yair as the target.

‘Israeli’ intelligence learned of the plot in December 2025 and assessed that Iranian operatives were already “on the ground” in the Miami area conducting surveillance of his residence and movements.

Yair, who had been living in the Hallandale Beach area near Miami with a Shin Bet security detail, was instructed to leave immediately.

He departed without packing his belongings and has remained in ‘Israel’ since.
