  • Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the latest US sanctions campaign, calling it a continuation of the military war waged by the US and ‘Israel’.
  • Tehran warned countries implementing the measures that they could become complicit in what it described as violations of international law.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the United States’ latest campaign of economic pressure against Tehran, warning countries that participate in implementing the measures could be complicit in imposing what it described as one state’s unlawful will on independent states.

In a statement, the ministry argued that the US sanctions violate the UN Charter and described Washington’s economic pressure as a continuation of the military war waged against Iran by the US and ‘Israel’.

Tehran described the measures as reprehensible “state terrorism” and a crime against humanity, arguing that they place the health and livelihoods of millions of civilians at serious risk.

The ministry also accused the UN system and member states of failing to respond adequately to what it described as violations of international law by Washington and ‘Israel’.

According to Tehran, the lack of an adequate response has encouraged further violations.

Iran said it remains determined to use all available means to defend the country against what it characterized as a combined US-‘Israeli’ military and economic campaign.
