Witnesses reported that demonstrators blocked sections of Second Avenue, obstructing vehicular movement in the area.
New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers stepped in to clear the thoroughfare and took several individuals into custody.
The protest forms part of ongoing demonstrations in New York City and major urban centers across the globe demanding an immediate end to hostilities in the Middle East.
Protest context
Since the ceasefire deal was signed last October, the area by 'Israeli' forces in Gaza has increased from 53 percent to 70 percent, according to 'Israeli' officials.
More than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed across the coastal enclave, mostly women and children, since Israel launched its war in October 2023.
