An attacker armed with a sword wounded several people on Friday at a high school in central Sweden before being detained by law enforcement, municipal authorities and emergency responders confirmed.
The attack took place at Brinellskolan, a upper secondary school in the municipality of Fagersta. Local officials issued an immediate alert following the breach of the school grounds.
"An assailant armed with a sword has entered Brinellskolan and wounded several people," the Fagersta municipality said in an official statement, confirming that the perpetrator had subsequently been apprehended by police.
Suspect shot
Swedish law enforcement confirmed receiving emergency reports of "ongoing deadly violence" at the school premises, prompting an immediate tactical response.
