  • Doha says pilots violated Qatari airspace.
  • Air defenses responded after contact failed.
  • Qatar recovered one pilot's remains.

The Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majid Al Ansari, issued a categorical denial regarding allegations that Qatari authorities are detaining Iranian pilots, expressing surprise at the misleading statements amid ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The official statement clarified that Qatari forces established contact with the pilots concerned following an unauthorized violation of Qatari airspace in March.

"We reaffirm that contact was established with the pilots concerned following their violation of our airspace last March," Dr. Majid Al Ansari stated. "We took measures to defend our land after communicating with the Iranian pilots without receiving an answer."

Following the defensive engagement, Qatari search and rescue teams launched operations to search for the remains of the pilots involved in the airspace breach, successfully locating the body of one pilot.

Qatar subsequently contacted the Iranian side to coordinate the official handover of the recovered remains in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Dr. Majid Al Ansari added that Qatari authorities extended an official invitation to the Iranian side in April to send a delegation to review the search and rescue operations on site; however, the Iranian side did not respond to the invitation.
